Soccer Bet Types
Win / Draw
This is the most common soccer betting option. It is a straightforward prediction on the result of a game. There are three potential options: home win, draw or away win. We will weigh up the strengths and weaknesses of both teams – taking form, head-to-heads, injuries, home advantage and other factors into account – and release odds on each of the three potential outcomes.
The odds tell you the profit you stand to earn on each outcome and the likelihood of it happening. For example, if Sydney FC are in great form and they are hosting a struggling Brisbane Roar team at the Jubilee Oval, you might find odds of 1.59 on Sydney, 4.20 on the draw and 5.40 on Brisbane. That tells you to expect a $15.90 return if you were to place a successful $10 bet on Sydney, and a $54 return if you placed a successful $10 bet on Brisbane. The higher potential profit on Brisbane shows that they are the underdogs in this hypothetical example.
Draw No Bet
Draw no bet is a very useful soccer betting option. It essentially means that you will receive a refund if the game finishes in a draw. For example, let’s say Melbourne Victory are priced at 2.79 to beat Western Sydney Wanderers. You think that Melbourne will win the game, but you are worried that Western Sydney might snatch a draw.
In that case, you could go into the draw no bet section and bet on Melbourne Victory at 2.05. If they win the game, you will be paid out at 2.05. You will therefore receive a smaller return than you would have gained by betting on them to win the game outright at 2.79. However, if the game finishes in a draw, you get your money back, so it serves as an insurance policy.
Double Chance Bet
This soccer betting market allows you to cover two potential outcomes on the same game. For example, if Adelaide United are playing Melbourne City, you would have three options in the double chance soccer betting section: Adelaide-draw, Melbourne City-draw, and Adelaide-Melbourne City. If Adelaide were priced at 4.60 to win the game and 3.25 in the draw no bet market, you would expect to find Adelaide-draw double chance at 2.06. Then all they need to do is avoid defeat and you will earn more than double your money.
Half-Time / Full-Time
This popular soccer betting market allows you to predict the result at half-time and at full-time. You will find larger odds when betting half-time / full-time as opposed to simply predicting the result. For example, let’s say Manchester City are priced at 1.67 to secure a home win against Chelsea. You might then expect to find 2.32 on Man City to win at half-time and full-time, or 4.30 on a draw at half-time and Man City to win at full-time.
Correct Score
You can predict the correct score of a soccer game at TopSport.com.au. It is a lot harder to guess what the score will be as opposed to simply predicting the result. You will therefore be rewarded with much larger odds on a correct score market. That means you can bet on several different correct score markets on the same game and still earn a profit if one of them comes in.
First Half Result
This is a simple bet on what the result will be at half-time of a soccer game. You can study how well each team generally performs in the first half before delving into this soccer betting option.
Total Goals
This is an exciting soccer betting option that allows you to predict the cumulative goals scored by both teams. For example, in a Serie A game between Juventus and Udinese, we might offer odds of 1.85 on over 2.5 goals and 1.95 on under 2.5 goals. You do not have to specify which team will win the game. If you bet on over 2.5 goals, it can finish 2-1 to Udinese or 7-0 to Juventus, and you will be paid out either way. You will also find alternative total goals markets, such as over / under 1.5 goals and over / under 3.5 goals.
Winner / Totals Double
This soccer betting market allows you to combine the result with the total goals scored in a game. It is a great way to get more value when betting on a favourite. For example, let’s say Real Madrid have been on fire in front of goal and they are coming up against a Valencia team with a weak defence. You might find odds of 1.43 on Real Madrid winning the game and decide you want a larger price. In that case, you could potentially bet on Real Madrid to win the game and over 2.5 goals at odds of 2.00. Los Blancos would need to win and there would need to be three or more goals in the game for the bet to pay off, but you would be rewarded with a larger payout if successful.
Line
This is identical to draw no bet, because it gives either team a +0.5 handicap. If that team goes on to win or secure a draw from the game, a bet on them pays out.
Asian Handicap
The Asian handicap soccer betting market gives you a lot more flexibility. For example, you can give the favourite a handicap to earn a larger potential profit. Imagine you want to bet on a Bundesliga game between Bayern Munich and Mainz. Bayern are 1.35 to win the game, and Mainz are the 7.25 underdogs, with the draw priced at 5.70. If you want more value on Bayern, you could head into the Asian handicap section and find Bayern -1.5 at odds of 1.87.
They would need to win by two clear goals for the bet to pay off, but you would earn a return of $1.87 for every $1 wagered as opposed to $1.35. Alternatively, you might decide to bet on Mainz +1.5 at odds of 1.93. In that case, they could win the game, draw or lose by a single goal and the bet would pay out.
You will find a variety of additional Asian handicap options on each game. For example, you might decide to bet on Bayern Munich -2. In that case, your bet would pay out if they won by three or more goals, you would get your money back and the bet would be settled as a push if they won by exactly two goals, or your bet would lose if Bayern lost the game, drew or won by just a single goal. However, you would receive more attractive odds than betting on Bayern -1.5. Asian handicap soccer betting also offers the potential for half-wins and half-losses
Clean Sheet Betting
This is a straightforward bet on a team to keep a clean sheet in a game. You do not have to specify whether they will win the game or draw. Your bet will pay out if they do not concede a goal during the match.
Soccer Betting FAQs
What is double chance in soccer betting?
The double chance soccer betting option allows you to cover two of the three potential outcomes in a game. For example, you could bet on Melbourne City to win and the draw in their game against Adelaide United. Then they would simply need to avoid defeat for your bet to pay out.
What is handicap betting in soccer?
This soccer betting market gives one team a handicap, which allows punters to gain more appealing odds on them. For example, if Sydney FC are priced at 1.59 to beat Brisbane Roar, you might find Sydney -1.5 priced at 2.75. You will get a much larger payout by betting on them with a 1.5-goal handicap, but they would need to win by two clear goals for the bet to pay off.
